New Mac And A Bit Of Tack.

Hey guys!

So after the past few days I've been shopping and kind of bankrupted myself. But what hurts more than the fact that I'm now extremely broke, is the fact that everything I bought was to wear at work :( Since I work in a school most of the stuff I wear is extremely boring so I won't bother showing you all that...but I will show you the couple of things I got that weren't work related.

First up is...

MAC Blot Powder (Pressed) in 'Deep Dark' - £20

Since Spring has finally sort of started, my oily face has tumbled out of control. It actually got so shiny that people started to use my skin as a reflective surface in which they would use to reapply their lipstick. I joke. But anyway, I went into MAC looking for some sort of powder to keep it at bay. I thought I would need a translucent powder but the sales assistant recommended that I try the blot powder and tried some on my face. I'm not going to do a review of it right now since I've only worn it twice, but from what I can see right now it's pretty amazing. It completely changed the look of my face and kept the oil away for hours. I used it to set my foundation in the morning and hardly needed to reapply during the day. The only thing I would say is that I wouldn't use the puff they give you to apply it...it leaves quite a heavy/cakey look. Use a powder brush instead for more natural looking results.

I also bought...

ASOS Horse Detail Purse - £7.50 (sale)

So this may very well be the tackiest thing EVER and that's why I like it. It's red, it's faux gold, faux leather...but instead of being sick I just had the biggest grin on my face when I first saw it. I don't even particularly like horses but I'm in love with his. It's also the first non-River Island purse I've had in around 5 years so it makes a really nice change. Please don't judge me lol

When Acrylics Are The Only Option

Ok...I'm just going to put it all out there. I have short, stubby fingers and I hate them with a passion. So, I always wear acrylic nails to make them look longer. However, having to remove them has become such a problem for me. Since I'm way too cheap to pay for them to get taken off, I use a metal nail file and literally peel and prise them off my fingers, which takes a few layers off from my natural nails, which basically leaves them weak and pretty disgusting to be honest lol.

But last week my cousin saved my finger nails by telling me about the Perfect Finish Artificial Nail Remover from Boots...and seriously, at the moment I'm thinking that it's kind of the best invention since the dishwasher.

It comes in a little tub with acetone and the walls are covered with tiny little brushes. You need to soak each finger individually for around 10 minutes which literally melts the nail away. You then twist your finger inside the tub against the brushes to help remove the excess. Although it can be VERY drying, I can honestly say that the condition of my nails is 100 times better than it would have been if I had ripped them off. So, if like me you can't live without your acrylic nails, this is the perfect product for when you need to remove them. And plus it's only £2.99!

Give it a try!

Review: Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express Mascara

Hi guys!

This Maybelline mascara (£7.99) was another item I got as part of the 3 for 2 deal at Boots and this time I'm not a happy bunny at all! So I assumed that a mascara called 'The Rocket Volum' Express' would do what it says on the tin, but it really doesn't. When applying it, it made my lashes darker and separated them...but thats about it. It didn't add an volume or really lengthen them at all. Too be honest, I may as well not have used any mascara at all! If you look at the wand, you can see that the bristles are definitely not long enough to pick up any of the lashes and this made it extremely difficult to do my bottom lashes. Maybe it's my own fault as I should have looked at the picture of the wand more closely...but you live and you learn I guess. All I can say is that next time I will most definitely be sticking to my most trusted Rimmel Volume Flash mascara.

If you've tried this then let me know what you thought :)

Review: Soap & Glory Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen

Hi guys!

As you know Boots are doing are doing a 3 for 2 deal on all of their beauty products, and since I'm super broke I managed to convince my mum to pick me a few bits and pieces. One of the things I got was the Soap & Glory Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen (£6)

Since trying out some of Soap & Glory's skincare products, I've practically lived on their website eyeing everything up. Since their other products are so freaking amazing I thought I would give their beauty products a try. My liquid eyeliner had recently run out and I needed to top up. I've never tried a 'felt tip' kind of liquid eyeliner and this one seemed like the best one for creating the heavy black eye that I like to wear.

Verdict:

I really love this so far! It's so easy to apply and really does create a super sleek line really quickly. I would say it took me almost half the time to do my eyeliner as it normally does. It also dries pretty instantly, which means I didn't have to worry about blinking and having my eyeliner end up all over my eyelids (which really does get on my nerves). The finish is a true black and is opaque, which makes me so happy because I HATE streaks in liquid eyeliner. It also stayed on my eyelids all day without the use of a primer. There was a little bit of smudging, but this happens with all my eye products as I have quite oily skin. I definitely recommend this if like me, you like creating quite a thick, dark eye using your liquid eyeliner :)
